[DIY] Ombre Pencils
Tuesday, July 12, 2016
So, I was cleaning my bedroom because why not? Lol jk.
I’m not that diligent to ALWAYS clean my room. I cleaned my bedroom because to
be honest my room was messy everywhere like, dirty clothes, bags, and even
trashes like seriously, anyone, do you guys relate?
I can’t stand seeing my room [another
reason is because I started to smell something ‘uneasy’ inside the room] and
when I opened the drawer, I found a lot of pencils. Like, pencils that is not
qualified for exams. So I collected them on the desk and I kept thinking to upgrade (?) them to be more interesting (?) because yeah the color was green and I don’t
like it, so I was planning to all black.
But you guys already know that I’m just too lazy
so I thought I’ll be like “ok save this idea for later” BUT GUESS WHAT I MOVED
MY ASS FROM THE BED AND STARTED MAKING. LIKE, FINALLY? What.
Ok so sorry for the talkative paragraph above. Let’s
get started to the main reason for today’s post:
DIY Colourful Pencil!
[p/s: I was writing for the post as I made the DIY. and at the end this things aren't colourful. So please ignore the title.]

So if you guys are like me, who like to add a
personal touches to our belongings, you will like this kind of DIY.
Materials you’ll need:
1. Pencils – definitely the one that you
want to retouch.
2. Scotch tape / whatever tape – if your
pencil is eraser provided, then you’ll need tape to secure it from the paint.
3. Paint – in this DIY I use acrylic paint
from Reeves and watercolor also from Reeves. we need the white acrylic paint for the base colour. mine was called Titanium white.
4. Paint brush.
5. Holder to dry your pencil - I used binder clips and clay, lol. Just do it quickly to prevent the clay from drying.
6. Water
7 7. Palette
You’ll need to paint a base color for the pencil
which is white. i did 2 to 3 layers until it was covered in white. let it dry
for a few minutes and you can start on picking what color you want for your
pencil.
Well, for me, obviously I’ll choose dark color
lol there are not many choices so yeah, black, of course. I don't know what's wrong with me but as you can see i tried pastel colour to see what my reaction would be but of course, i definitely not like it. so i paint that pencil black.

And yeah however it’s done. It took approx. 4
hours for me to do this LIKE WHY DID IT TAKE SO LONG? I feel sorry for my boyfriend because I left him all day only for this easy DIY. Some people might laugh
because of this, I started this thing at 2 and I finished at 6. I will surely
not do any DIY anymore, lol.
I probably needed to change the title to just 'coloured' rather than colourful but at the end I didn't change it. I'll call it ombre pencils, maybe?
And talking about my paint, this is one of them. this is a water colour set with 12 colours from Reeves. i love Reeves because the colours are bold. Reeves is a bit expensive tho, this set with 12 colours was IDR 107.000 when i bought it. But Reeves is worth it! My white acrylic paint was from Reeves as well and it was IDR 33.000 while the black paint was from Simbalion and it was IDR 34.000.

I couldn’t finish today’s DIY without these
buddies.

My paint brushes are from Reeves as well! It's not that i'm addicted to Reeves' product but when it comes to painting/drawing/colouring, i'll choose Reeves for sure. the smaller one is number 6 and the price is IDR 12.500 while the bigger one is number 12 and the price is IDR 27.500. I have other brushes from Reeves, but I didn't use it today.

And this is what the final project looks like! you can say these are ombre pencils for sure. YOU CAN TELL THE DIFFERENCES RIGHT? I love how black the results are and they look fancy, and my style [lol] But yeah because it took me very very long time to do it, maybe because i'm not used to DIY, i'll make this kinda thing on weekends.
And this one is not neccesary, you can add things like mod podge/fox after the paint dried completely, and your pencils will look clean and glossy. But because I don't have both of them I used pilox paint lol the other reason is because I'M GETTING TIRED OF PAINTING BASICALLY EVERYTHING FOR NOW so i moved on an instant way. Pilox paint is more expensive than fox but more efficient so at time like this i DEFINITELY choose pilox.
I didn't try the pencils yet and i'll post reviews later!
